Automation of e-commerce & logistics processes in retail

Context of the project

A renowned player in the retail sector, our client wanted to be able to integrate his e-commerce site into marketplaces to enjoy greater visibility on the market. In addition, he wanted to obtain better control in real time and completely computerized of the logistics flows (checking of stocks, products, follow-up of orders to be made or packages shipped, integrations, etc.) which would be linked to his e-commerce. Finally, he wanted to be able to use business intelligence to analyze the performance of his logistics activity and make improvements.     

Challenges faced

We have faced major challenges such as :

• Analysis and development of connectors (APIs) for logistics:
  • Definition of strategies for integrating stores into marketplaces (catalogs, stocks, orders, etc.)
  • Definition of store integration strategies for e-commerce.

• The analysis and development of an intranet allowing the consultation of data such as stocks, deliveries, purchases etc. as well as the management of certain aspects of logistics (validation of shipments, processing of returns, etc.)
• Analysis and development of integration with marketplaces via Channel Advisor: integration of products and price files, retrieval and integration of orders
• The collection and processing of the client’s raw data in order to translate them into data that can be used by a business intelligence tool.

Our approach

Despite their age, we decided to interconnect existing business applications and management tools by creating flows controlled from an intermediate platform. This approach has enabled us to build a global management solution that meets our client’s request without disrupting its internal organization.

Impact of the project  

As soon as the project was put into production, our client was able to benefit from greater visibility at the marketplace level, a view and real-time monitoring of its supply chain, better reports of errors or anomalies and many recommendations to prevent any incident. Finally, the traditionally heavy and repetitive logistical tasks have drastically decreased.
