Migrating an infrastructure to a hybrid cloud

Context of the project

We were approached by two companies who wanted to merge but whose respective “on-site” infrastructures presented various incompatibilities. They also deplored the slowness, limited capacity and obsolescence of the servers installed on their premises, which did not offer them enough flexibility or scalability. They then expressed to us the need to have a tailor-made workspace to which they would have access from anywhere and anytime and to further secure access to their data.

Challenges faced

To carry out this project, we had three major challenges to overcome : 

• Ensure the migration and then the merger of heterogeneous infrastructures on site to a homogeneous infrastructure in the cloud, while guaranteeing the continuity of services
• Organize services in “workspaces” defined by user or by department.
• Securing the new infrastructure (backup, DRP, authentication, threat protection, penetration testing etc.)

Our approach

Using the agile method, we carried out, budgeted and planned the project in distinct phases. From the outset, the client was able to follow the progress of his project (achievement vs budget) using a shared dashboard. Each phase of the project was pre-tested in our datacenter before being approved. Latest generation monitoring tools have been installed in order to offer a very high level of availability, reliability and proactive maintenance.

Impact of the project  

As soon as the project went live, the two merged companies experienced a drastic reduction in support requests and were able to more easily make budget forecasts for their infrastructure needs. In addition, users can now access business applications via a single authentication (Single Sign On).
